TPS4H000-Q1: Can I common up the FAULT pins?

Part Number: TPS4H000-Q1

Hello,
I am planning to use 3 or 5 TPS4H000-Q1 to control and monitor the power supply of between 5 and 18 devices.

Can I common up (connect together) all 3/5 FAULT pins (Pin_07)?

Also ....
Can I common up (connect together) all 3/5 THER pins (Pin_12)?

  • Hello,
Yes you can common the FAULT pins of different devices however you will not be able to know which one has a FAULT if they do.
Also be sure that you are not violating the maximum current for the FAULT pin from the datasheet.
Same for the THER pin. Make sure that you do not violate the current spec on the datasheet and also they have a soft pull down internally.
  • Hello Cameron
Thanks for that, I was just about to add some AND and OR gates to my design.
The idea is to have global warning signals for 'FAULT' and 'THERM' - and then to check the connected devices by looking at their output (video)

I have kept the Camera_Sense for each TPS4H000-Q1- B separate and can "scan" the outputs as another check.

    Its going to be
Standard: Three TPS4H000-Q1- B (with 9 connected devices)
Expanded: Five TPS4H000-Q1- B (with 18 connected devices)
