TPS62260: Is it possible to supply +3.3V external power on TPS62260's output?

Part Number: TPS62260

Dear Sir,

I need to suppy +3.3V external power on TPS62260's output because of MCU firmware update as below.

Is it possible? Does this external power supply damage TPS62260's internal circuit?

In terms of FB pin it would be OK because a small leak current like 4uA. I think it can not damage an internal circuit from the leak current point of view.

How about internal High side FET from the inrush current of view?

  • If the device is supplied with a voltage higher than 3.3V, configured in power save mode enabled (MODE to GND) and enabled before you connect the 3.3V at the output I think it should be ok. The mode of operation would not be different to power save mode.
  • Sorry for late reply.
I tried this external power supply connection on TPS62260's output and the device was broken (No output proper voltage as 3.3V).
In this case the impedance between 1pin(SW) and gnd was around 5ohm and it looks like an internal FET (Low side?) is broken.

So as a result, the answer above is something wrong.
