WEBENCH® Tools/UCC28600: Switching regulator

Part Number: UCC28600
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28180, UCC28064A, , TIDA-01495

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I need to develop this switching regulator:

input 85-240 VAC 50/60 Hz

Isolated output  48 VDC , 8 A

Maybe I can use a UCC28600-Q1, but I'm not sure.

Can I use the sluu256a.pdf as a guide for that? Can you help me to modify the schematic of this document to satisfy my requirements?

I tried to use the slvc104j.xls tool, but I'm not able to use it.

Thank you

Maurizio Porro

  • Hi Maurizio,

Thanks for your interest in UCC28600. 48V at 8A is 384W which is too large of an output power for a flyback topology. It would be better to use a two stage approach of PFC + DC/DC. For PFC you can take a look at UCC28064A for low profile or UCC28180 for low component count. For the DC/DC you could consider LLC topology which will give good efficiency due to zero voltage switching.

TIDA-01495 might be of interest to you. It is not an exact match to your requirements but it is close to the power range you are interested in.

  • I saw your proposal: Thank you very much for your advise about the need to use a LLC topology and not a flyback.
The power range of your proposal is good, but I need a 48 VDC, 8 A output, not 24 VDC, 20 A output.
Can you help me to modify the schematic of your proposal to satisfy my needing please.
I will appreciate that a lot.
    Thank you.
    Goodbye

  • Hi Maurizio,

    384W LLC.zip

Please see the attached .zip. You might need some fine tuning during your bench evaluation but this should be the bulk of the necessary changes.
