BQ25120: PCB Requirements for MR pin

Part Number: BQ25120

The datasheet for BQ25120A specifies that the MR pin is a "Manual Reset Input" and is a "push-button input that must be held low for greater than tRESET to assert the reset output".

Is a physical switch required for the functionality of the MR pin?  Or can this be done with logic levels?

If so, can this pin be left floated or controlled by GPIO?

  • Dennis,

Note that there is an internal pullup to VBAT of around 120kohm. the voltage on the /MR pin can be VBAT level so if you are choosing to drive, the MCU 's GPIO needs to be tolerant to that level.

if not, you can use a pulldown FET as well to achieve the function of /MR. You don't need a pushbutton.
