TPS7A69-Q1: PG left floating when not used

Part Number: TPS7A69-Q1

Team,

I'm using the TPS7A6950-Q1 and don't need the PG function.

Can I let the pin floating in this case or are there any concerns?

Thanks and best regards,

B

  • Hi Basil,

PG is an open drain signal. Since you are not using it, you could either leave it floating as you suggest or tie it to GND. The advantage of having PG tied to GND is that it will increase the GND copper near the LDO. As the primary heatsink for TPS7A69-Q1 is the GND plane, increasing GND copper at the LDO will help to maximize thermal performance.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Ryan,

    thanks for the quick reply.
How about the CT-pin in case PG is tied to GND?

Can I pull CT to GND as well for better thermal performance?

    Thanks and best regards,
    B
  • Hi Basil,

It is not recommended to tie CT to GND due to the internal current source that is used to charge any capacitor placed on the CT rail.  CT should be floated in your application.
