LM3478: Formula of efficiency

Hi team,

The customer try to design boost converter by using LM3478 and 2 discrete inductors. Then, the customer wants to calculate the efficiency.

Could you tell me the formula of efficiency?

    Hi Yoshi,

    The equation for efficiency can be as complicated or simple as the customer desires. Basically the losses can be broken down into conduction losses and switching losses. Please take a look at LM5150 datasheet section (8.2.2.14).

    The section is a good guide to estimate the efficiency of any boost controller.
