TPS544C20: If not use PEC

Part Number: TPS544C20
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS544B20

Hi,

If I do not use PEC with PMBus control of TPS544C20 / TPS544B20, I understand that register have not to set on PMBus about PEC, is it correct?
If the host side does not assume PEC,I believe that it operates regardless of PEC registers, is it correct?

Best regards,
Yuto Sakai

  • Hi Sakai-san,

The use of Packet Error Check (PEC) is optional for these devices, as specified by the PMBus Power Management Protocol Specification, Part 1, revision 1.1.

You are correct, if the PMBus host does not assume PEC (clock pulses are not supplied before a STOP) then PEC is not used, and the device operates regardless of PEC.  For further clarification please see section 8.3.16 of the TPS544B20/C20 datasheet.

    Thanks,
