TPS82130: Purchasing/Lead Times

I'm looking to design in the TPS82130SILT buck switcher into a current design but there seems to be no current stock available to purchase. A few questions that come to mind that would help gauge the feasibility of using this part.

What are the standard lead times associated with this part?
What is the current lead time for this part to be stocked at certified distributors?
Is there a way to acquire small prototype batches to prove out a design?

Hi Scott,

Lead times change regularly, so it is best to work with your distributor to determine the most accurate lead time.

You can order samples from the TI Store. Then, TI can give you an estimated shipping date if they are on backorder.

We have EVMs in stock to evaluate the device.

Finally, this device is pin to pin compatible with 2A and 1A versions, TPS82140 and TPS82150, so there is some flexibility if one version is currently not in stock.

Thank you for the information Chris.

The lead times I am seeing are on the order of 35 weeks, is that realistic?

I tried to put through a sample order but I get a prompt saying "No Backorder Allowed", am I dead in the water and beholden to the 35 week lead time?

To clarify, I have already acquired an eval board for the TPS82130 and tested to my satisfaction. My bigger issue is that I need to test these parts in the end application and part availability is prohibiting me from going to a prototype.

Hi Scott,

35 weeks sounds reasonable and your distributor should know best. I hear that other customers are seeing even longer lead times on ceramic capacitors.

Let me check on the backorder issue. I don't know why the system says that. The samples should have a much shorter lead time.

My contacts for the sample request had a public holiday yesterday and were out today as well. I'll check in with them early next week and update here.
