TPS65910: Connection with AM3352

Guru 16770 points
Part Number: TPS65910

Hi

There are questions for TPS65910 connected to AM335x.

I refer SWCU093F.

In Figure 2, VAUX2 is connected to VDDSHVx and VMMC is connected to VDDSHV.

What is the reason why the connection is independent?

In customer application, 3.3V is applied to all VDDSHVx.

So, could it be possible to apply 3.3V from VMMC to VDDSHVx if LDO output capability is enough?

BestRegards

  • na na78,

Please refer to this other thread which says VDDSHV and VDDSHVx are dual voltage I/O cells, working at either 1.8V or 3.3V

You can see on the TPS65910 datasheet on page 98 that MMC is an abbreviation for Multimedia Card. This was the original reason for why VAUX2 and VMMC are separated. They are LDOs with similar capabilities but the MMC rail would be dedicated to the MMC protocol converter peripheral IC and VAUX2 directly powers the AM335x 3.3V IO pins.

If you manage your power budget correctly, these LDOs are interchangeable.

    Hi Brian

    Thank you for your help.

We will talk with the customer that single LDO can be used to AM335x 3.3V IO if the power budget is managed correctly.

    BestRegards
