BQ24040: The thermal charging state of BQ24040

Part Number: BQ24040

BQ24040 provides a thermal charging mode, which provides a 4.06v charging voltage at 45 to 60 degrees. What is the charging current at this time, and how to force it into this mode?

TS pin with 5K resistance to ground, can enter this mode

  • Hello
The high temp charge voltage (4.06V) for BQ24040 is set by the voltage on TS pin, between 278mV and 178mV charge voltage is reduced. Note that less than 178mV charge stops due to high temp and above 278mV normal charge voltage (4.20V).
The TS pin current source is 50uA and 4.56k will put the voltage at mid point of 228mV.
5k would put you at about 250mV, not a lot of margin.
