TPS54202: Limitation about 100% duty use case

Part Number: TPS54202

Hello apps team,

I'd like to know if there is any limitation about 100% duty use case on TPS54202.
I know that it can't support complete 100% (like path SW mode) from the description below.
"the TPS54202 is designed to operate at 100% duty cycle as long as the BOOT to SW pin voltage is greater than 2.1 V typically"

The reason why I ask it is that I found Vin(max) is 28V and Vout(max) is 26V described on the ti.com. It looks recommend to have 2V offset.
I'm wondered if there is any other limitation reason on the 100% duty mode except caring more than 2.1V BOOT voltage.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi

When boot voltage is lower than 2.1V, the low-side FET is turned on to charge the boot cap. so the high-side FET can't always turn on. And there is voltage drop on the Rdson, DCR and resistance of PCB. The output voltage is lower than 28V.
