TLC5926: Open-Circuit & Short Circuit Detections

Part Number: TLC5926

Dear, Sir.

TLC5926 has the functions which are called Open-Circuit Detection & Short Circuit Detection.

I wonder the internal transistor would be still ON during these detection or turn OFF?

Sorry to ask this kind of matter, but I would like to double-confirm.

Please give your advice.

Best Regards,

H. Sakai

  • Hi Sakai,

For Open circuit detection, the internal circuit will detect the channel current to judge if the LED opened, in this way, the channel must be ON,

For Short circuit detection, the internal circuit will detect the channel output voltage, the voltage will be approach to Line voltage when LED is short, in this way, the channel can be ON/OFF status.

    Regards!

    Shawn.

  • Dear, Shawn-san.

I am feeling a mount of gratitude for your teaching.

I wonder the current sink circuit is configured by NMOS FET with body-diode?

Sorry to ask you again about this kind of matter, but it will be so helpful for me.

    Best Regards,

    H. Sakai

  • Hi Sakai,

Generally, the current sink circuit is similar to current mirror, which adding some DC current gain circuit based on current mirror. So you can simply take it as the NMOS for the channel output.

Ps. If you think it has solved your problem, please help to click "Resolved",thanks!

    Regards!

    Shawn.
