TPS53513: POL behavior when feedback resistor short or open and what the VO (pin 24) function

Part Number: TPS53513

Dear Team,

There are three problems, thank you for your time.

1. What the detail function of VO (pin 24)?   It is related to OVP? ripple injectin?

2. Is there any limitation when we add external ripple injection circuit?

3. What TPS53513 will happen when high side feedback resistor cracked(open) or low side feedback resistor short?

We want to know these four situation

A. high side R crack before power on

B. high side R crack after power on

C. low side R short before power on

D. low side R short after power on

  • Hello Jan Bob,

Below are the answers to your questions:

    1. The Vo pin is used only for on time adjustments. It is not used for OVP or ripple injection.

    2. The external ripple circuit is not generally recommended as this part does not usually need it. Can you provide more information as to why you may need it?

    3.  For all of the cases, the behavior will be similar, because in all 4 cases the FB pin will be connected to GND. This will cause the High Side FET to continuously switch, as the controller will see FB at GND and keep trying to bring up Vout to the reference voltage.

    - As long ad Vfb is lower than Vref the HS FET will switch, and Vout will rise to near PVIN.

    Thanks,
