BQ2970: Vss connect to GND or Cell-

Hi Team,

I am confused about the relationship between Vss, cell-, pack- and Gnd.

Vss connect to GND in EVM, but connect to cell- in data sheet typical application. What is the different?

We use coin battery, and the schematic connect Vss to BAT-, is this correct?

    It is very important that you get the ground connections correct otherwise you will end up shorting the fets and end up with a non-functional board.
    Both the EVM and data sheet are correct. You can see in the first schematic snap shot you attached, cell- is connected to a net-tie to ground, which is just the same as connecting it to ground. A net tie is not a component.

    The pack- on the other hand is the load/charger ground. i.e the ground of everything on the other side of the fet. Do not mix pack- and vss up. That could wreck your design.
