BQ34Z100-G1: About BQ34Z100PWR-G1 for the alarm pannel lead acid management....

Dear Sir,

We bought BQ34Z100PWR-G1 from digikey, want to applicate to alarm pannel battery management. We use two lead acid battery that 12V/7Ah. How can I use for the management circuit. When mains valid, batterys must be charging and mains will be lost battery connect to main circuit and supply the system.

    This sounds more like a UPS system (uninterruptible power supply). If the battery is left charged for long periods of time, and is rarely discharged, the bq34110 may be a better choice for the system because it has an EOS (end of service) algorithm that helps alert the user when the battery should be replaced.

    If you are still interested in using the bq34z100-g1 for this application, to get quickly started, please follow the steps in the quickstart guide: www.ti.com/.../sluubv2 . The quickstart guide will walk you through setting up the toolchain and installing software to use the part.

    After stepping through the quickstart guide, you will now be able to modify the part and configure it for use.

    To configure the part this will require:

    1) Determining the chemID of the battery. This will include using the gauge to log a charge/discharge cycle of the battery and submit the log to an online tool. More information can be found here: http://www.ti.com/tool/gpcchem

    2) Program the chemID to the gauge.

    3) Configure the gauge settings, as described in Section 8 of the Datasheet.

    4) Perform a learning cycle as described in Section D.3 of the Technical Reference Manual, found here: www.ti.com/.../sluubw5.pdf . Since you will be using a lead acid chemistry, two discharge cycles will need to be completed instead of just one.

    5) Test the gauge for SOC performance through charge/discharge cycles.
