About calibration question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350-R1, BQ78350, BQ76930

Dear TI expert,

In bq78350-R1 Technical Reference
12.2.5 Current Calibration
What is the purpose of the current calibration?

If We don't use bq78350 Gas Gauge, we only use bq76930 AFE with STM MCU.
Is it necessary to do the calibration?
We only need to set bq76930 AFE registers, right?

Our problem is that
The voltage between SRN-SRP is lower than the OCD/SCD voltage threshold, but AFE OCD/SCD protection works, OCD/SCD bit be set

Thanks

  • Hi CY,

Are you working with Matt, Frank, and Alex on the same project? This question has been asked on E2E several times today.

The OCD/SCD feature uses hardware comparators. Calibration cannot modify these.
Calibration is not required. The BQ78350-R1 uses calibration to account for board parasitics to improve gauging accuracy. If you need good accuracy for gauging, then you should consider calibrating.
