LP8556: LP8556TME-E05 EEPROM

Part Number: LP8556
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP8552

Hello,

I ask about LP8556TME-E05.

My customers hope to use their own settings of the product in EEPROM at the factory line and then load that setting.

Q1. In the data sheet there is a statement '' Non-programmed '- This option is for evaluation purposes only.',

 But it seems that you can order. Is it actually available for sale as a product?

Q2. They do not use the I2C terminal after writing to the EEPROM, but are there problems with connecting SDA/SDL Terminal to GND?

Just to be sure, I will describe how to use LP 8556 below. Is there anything wrong?

*how to use of LP8556E05 them

1. Write the initial setting to the built-in EEPROM.

2. Adjust the ISET current with I2C for the LED variations during the LED inspection process.

3. After that I2C will not be used(PWM Only). Drive that IC with external values and programmed data.

  • Hi Taichi,

        Q1: Yes, you can order E05 version to write your own EEPROM setting. TI will not provide this service, customer need to write by themselves;

        Q2: Yes, you can connect to GND when you don't use them.

        1. Please refer to below attachment to write the EEPROM;

        2. I'm not clear about your description? You mean when you inspect the LED, you will have the I2C interface? If you have I2C, of course, you can change the setting with I2C;

        3. If you don't have the I2C, the LP8556 will load the default setting in EEPROM when power up. So please make sure your EEPROM is written with your setting;

    Best Regards

  • Hi Sean-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

    1. Please refer to below attachment to write the EEPROM;
    →Can you sent me attachment file again ?

    2. I'm not clear about your description? You mean when you inspect the LED, you will have the I2C interface? If you have I2C, of course, you can change the setting with I2C;

    →They will inspect Vf varitations of LED.
    After, they change the current value for adjust detail light quantity from a current value set in ISET pin with I2C.

        I'm sorry for forgetting the attachment, please refer to below attachmnet:

  • Hello Sean-san,

    There are additional question about LP8556.

    SDA & SCL lines are connected to the 3.3V line a pull-up resistor and remain HIGH during writing.
    Although when not in use I2C, 'there lines connect to GND', is it OK to pull up to 3.3V?

    and also LP8552 similar ?
    LP8552 datasheet is written 'This pin must be connected to GND if not used' .
    My customer are considering either LP8552 or LP8556 or both.

    Regards

  • Hi Taichi,
    Yes, they are similar devices and you need to connect SDA/SCL to GND if you don't use them. Thanks.
