BQ25890: Thermistor input when used with BQ27220

Part Number: BQ25890
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27220

We have a design using both the BQ25890 and the BQ27220. Each part has a thermistor input. Is there a suggested configuration for connecting the thermistor input to one or both of the devices? Given that each of the devices uses the thermistor input as part of charging logic and fuel gauge, it seems we have to provide this input to both?

Thanks,

Larry

  • Larry,

The charger and gauge bias the thermistor differently so you have to chose which one to connect to the thermistor. Most people choose the gauge. The BQ25890 TS function can be disabled by connecting a resistor divider from REGN using the same sized resistors for top and bottom.
