UCC28951-Q1: UCC28951-Q1

Part Number: UCC28951-Q1

Hello Sir

Can you explain the working of diodes D5, D11 in the figure no :56 of the datasheet UCC28951-Q1 ?

What is the role of that diodes and how to select that diodes (rating and calculations) ?

If the diodes are removed ,what happens ?

Thanks and regards

Rajashekar

  • Hi Rajashekar,
The two diodes are clamped diode in the FSFB topology. The aim is to clamp the transformer voltage to input bus voltage.
it is better to select ultr-recovery performance diode or sic diode here. The bigger value shim inductor the bigger current will flow though these two diodes.
if you remove the diode, it can still work normally, but please pay more attention to your output diode. the VDS of the output diode will be higher than with D5 and D11. the output diode may be broken because of the over voltage.
