TPS22942: Clarifying ON pin function, datasheet is ambiguous

Part Number: TPS22942
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22944, TPS22945, TPS22941, TPS22943

Hello,

I wanted to clarify whether the ON pin for TI part TPS22942 was active high or active low. Looking at the device comparison table in the datasheet, it states that the ON pin is active low.

However, in section 8.4 and section 9.1.1 of the same datasheet, it states that the pin is active high.

So is the ON pin active high or active low?

Thanks,

Alex

For reference, the datasheet is located at http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps22942.pdf.

  • Hi Alex,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

Since the TPS22942 datasheet is used across all of our TPS2294x devices (TPS22941, TPS22942, TPS22943, TPS22944, and TPS22945), there will be some overlap information in the Applications Section of the datasheet.

You are correct, the TPS22942 is active low, and will turn on whenever the ON pin is actively pulled low.

    Thanks,

    Arthur Huang

  • Hi Arthur,

Thank you for replying. It would be nice if the datasheet more clearly made the distinction, but I appreciate the clarification!

    Thanks,
    Alex
