TPS2410: TPS2410 Off Function

Could you tell us which version of LM5050 customer is using? LM5050-1 or LM5050-2?
Can you please elaborate on the "off" function, does the customer require to cut off the power path when OFF?

Hi Kuan Wei Chen,

Neither LM5050-1 nor LM5050-2 can cut off the power path when turned OFF, this is because the body diode would conduct current thought the MOSFET is OFF.

To cut off the power path, single ORing MOSFET is not enough, Two back-back MOSFETs are required.

LM5050 can only drive the ORing MOSFET and the second MOSFET needs to be driven by LM5060 IC.

TPS2410 can drive two back to back MOSFETs, please refer to the "Bidirectional Blocking and Protection of C" in page 22 of datasheet.

LM5050-1 can be powered through Vs pin by connecting it to IN pin, OUT pin or external supply.

LM5050-2 can be powered through IN pin only and it has FET short status detect mechanism when OFF is high.

Other than LM5050-1 can leakage issue when connected to OUT pin. Please refer to the attached report to mitigate the leakage.

Thanks for the reply.
If LM5050 already can fit and think customer don't need to cut off the power path.
But how to implement TPS2410's off function, because it doesn't have same "off pin" as LM5050.

Hi Kevin,

OFF function of TPS2410 can implemented using OV or UV pin.
If voltage on OV pin exceeds OV threshold, then TPS2410 is turned off.
Similarly for UV pin, if the voltage goes below UV threshold, TPS2410 is turned off.
