BQ24040: BQ24040 recharge

Part Number: BQ24040

HI sir

Now I have a problem. I used BQ24040 to set the JEITA standard 4.06v charging voltage. According to the specification, the recharging voltage should be 105mV.

But in fact, I did start recharging after the battery voltage dropped to 3.8v, but the charging current was only 5mA at this time, and it required the battery voltage to drop to 3.6v to start the 500mA quick charge.

Excuse me this kind of phenomenon is normal, if my battery drops 200mV only, so small charge current.

  • Hello
I have checked this in lab on EVM and do not see a problem. The charge will terminate at 4.06V and recharge will start at 3.06V.
A couple of things to check on the test set up:
1.) connections to battery, resistance in current meter shunts can add error to the measurement.
2.) Possible resistance in the ground returns
3.) If you are using a battery simulator a large capacitor (100uF) on the battery terminal will help. This better simulates a battery.
