TPS7A85: TPS7A8500RGRR - About GND (8pin & 18pin)

Hi Team,

 

8pin and 18pin are GND so same function.

Therefore, we understand that those pins are same potential and guess that IV characteristics of 8pin and 18pin are “short characteristics”.

However, we confirmed “Diode characteristics”.

 

Is 8pin not connected to 18pin in the device?

Our customer would like to know the structure of internal circuit.

    Hi Kanemaru,

    The TPS7A85 has two separate internal ground planes in order to achieve low output noise. One ground plane is isolated to the charge pump and the other ground plane is used by the rest of the internal circuitry. It is possible that there is a diode between the two planes causing you to observe these characteristics. Keep in mind that all ground pins should still be connected to the same supply ground to ensure the TPS7A85 operates as expected.
