TLC59281: Maximum Rref ~ 25.2K / Minimum output currents?

Part Number: TLC59281

The datasheet shows a graph of output current vs. Rref (Figure 10) with a high value of Rref of 25.2K and output current 2mA.  Can this device be used with higher values of Rref (up to 1Meg?) to get output currents down in the 10's of microamps? If so, what kinds of issues might this create?

  • Hi Ramsden,

Too large resister means too small reference current, which will cause the FET of the current mirror works at the voltage smaller than headroom(knee voltage)
It will cause the current accuracy problem, also the current will be easily influenced with the channel output voltage disturbing.
So it is not recommend to configure the output current smaller than 2mA.

    thanks!
    Regards,
    Shawn.
