TPS62823: Design review

Hello,

I am using three TPS62823DLCR for my design

One for 1.8V output, two for 1.0V output

I will need around 2A for each voltage

Here is the design I did, schematic and layout (same design for each voltage):

I did one plan for my voltage (here 1.8V) and one big connecting all of my ground with via connecting those plan to my power plan 1.8W and ground plan in inner layers

I am just a little bit worry about the temperature it might reach and if it won't create a thermal spot in my board

Hi Thomas,
The schematic follows the DS recommendation, just make sure you have 3uF effective capacitance at the input.
Regarding the layout the component placement look good to me. I guess you have polygon planes for the different signals but it not very clear on the picture, can you re-post a better picture?
I would also recommend to place vias under the device and on the ground of the output capacitors to have better thermal performances.

What is you load profile?
what is you operating ambient temperature?
What is you end application?

My input capacitor is 4.7uF

Here is a new picture of my layout with the vias added and clearer polygon planes

My load will be 2.7A max on both 1.0V and 1.5A max on 1.8V (it's a signal retimer)

Ambient temperature might be around 40-50°C

Thanks for re-posting the layout Thomas, it follows the DS recommendation
To optimize further the thermal performances I would recommend to to add vias near the ground of the output caps like on Fig 49 of the datasheet www.ti.com/.../tps62823.pdf
