BQ20Z70: Replacing the power management IC with a new one

Hi everyone,

I would like change my old BQ20Z704 with a new one BQ20Z70. I have the bin file from a reading with Be2works.

Could I write the new IC with the bin file and after that, starting the calibration procedure?

In other words, a sealed BQ20Z704 lets read everything that a new BQ20Z70 needs to starting work? Are they compatible?

If they are not compatible, do you know which IC could be compatible with my BQ20Z704? I attached their photo.

hola Ramon,

bq20z704 is a custom gauge (aka not publicly available, not available on ti.com), not compatible with other gauges. You can reach out to the PC or battery pack manufacturer for replacing the battery you have.

if you are looking for a newer gauge (but not be compatible with your current one), feel free to look at bq40z50-R2

Thanks for your fastest reply. I really appreciate your information.

I´ll try to get a new BQ20Z704 from a TI dealer (for instance www.texas-ti.com/.../BQ20Z704_159166.html) and I´ll write on it the saved bin file from the old one.

I mean.., anybody did this before?
