BQ24133: how to prevent charge after the adaptor is reconnected

Part Number: BQ24133

Hi,

my customer is using BQ24133.

But they find that every time they disconnect the adaptor and then reconnect the adaptor, BQ24133 will start to charge the battery even though VBAT is above the recharge threshold.

For example, the battery is charged to full charge voltage which is 4.2V, disconnect the adaptor for 1second and then reconnect the adaptor, the battery is still 4.2V, but then BQ24133 will start to charge the battery, then it will find that the battery is fully charged and stop charging.

But customer doesn't want BQ24133 to start charge at all in this situation.

  • Howard,

I am not aware of pin configuration to prevent charge starting when power reattached. Most of our chargers are designed to restart a new charge cycle, with regulation set to VBATREG, at power reattach. If power is not removed, regulation is set to VBATREG-VRCH after the battery discharges.

Is this for final product or production test?

One way would be to add an external SVS that monitors V(BAT) and pulls ISET pin to ground when V(BAT) >VBATREG-VRCH and power attached.
