BQ40Z50: R0 version bad performance at low temperature

Part Number: BQ40Z50
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , GPCRB

Hi,

We used BQ40Z50-R0 to design a 3S2P battery pack.

The FCC drops significantly and RSOC turns to 0 when the battery pack is discharged at low temperature.

When we changed to BQ40Z50-R1, the performance improved a lot.

Would you please let us know the reason?

I am attaching our setting of R0 and test data of R0 for your reference.

Thank you very much for your help in advance.BQ40Z50-R0.xlsxBQ40Z50-R0 test data.xlsx

  • The R1 rev does have some fw performance improvements. However, your low temp performance requires that if you are using your gauge at or below 0C, then the chem ID for the cells needs to be optimized for such an environment. If you have done a chem ID match to get your cell's chem ID, please use the GPCRB tool to optimize it for low temp.
