uc3909

Hello

Sorry to trouble you.

Could you do me a favor?

It is my first time to use this Charger IC.

I met a problem in this charger board and I describe the problem as below list,

1. The PU2(AD8212) is very easy to damage, seems at the charger into float charge mode.

2. In beginning the charger at bulk charge mode the charging function is normal( it’s has CV and CC), when the voltage of battery increase reach to higher the charger into float mode, at this moment the output voltage(BAT_POS) seems cannot regulation(seems no CV function) then damage the PU2.

Could you please give me some of your comment or suggestion?

 For another question

I find a question about the UC3909, when charger from over charge transition to float charge at that time the STATLV become high, it’s increasing the voltage sense divider ratio, and decrease to the battery voltage (please refer to below picture), my question is where can sink the energy of battery at that moment?

Your help is much appreciated

Thanks for your help and time

  • this description sounds a little unusal, I would think that the battery would keep the voltage relatively close to the float voltage.  Is there an intermittent connection with the battery.  I need to see some waveforms of what is going on to give good feedback.

  • Thanks for your reply.

here is some description of this issue.

Charger seems like stable during bulk charge mode and over charge mode.

The charge voltage reach Voc and charge current drop to Ioct.

When charger would into float mode, the charger increase input current  immediately and damage the current sense resistor.

By the way, what kind of waveform did you need it?

Please give me your comment  or suggestion.

Thanks for your help and time.
