BQ25882: Unused Pins

Part Number: BQ25882

Dear TI,

For an application we are only using the VBUS input on the BQ25882.

If the PMID feature is not going to be used , can those pins be left floating along with the SW pins?

Thanks,

Kevin

  • Kevin,

All the of the capacitors, inductor, ILIM and TS resistors in the application circuit are required in order for the IC to provide a minimum system voltage without a battery attached and/or provide battery charge current. The charger takes the VBUS voltage and, using the buck converter starting at PMID through SW pin to SYS, provides the system voltage and battery charge current. If by PMID feature you are referring to OTG, the PMID capacitor is still required as it is the input to the buck converter.
