UCD9090A: Offline and Online mode issues

I am doing some development on my custom Power Supply Unit. Initially, I was able to use one of my test boards with the USB-to-GPIO Programmer and the Fusin GUI in the Online and Offline mode. I have done quite a few iterations in the Online mode but now I get "No Devices Found! " when the Fusin GUI scans for the UCD9090A. However, I can still find the UCD9090A in the Offline mode. Please give me some insight as to why this is happening.

I don't see this issue with my new Test Board yet!

Hello

Offline and online are two different mode. under offline mode, GUI always assign a device for you so that you can work the design without real IC, but under online mode, GUI always need a real IC to work.

If you happen to get " No Devices Found", it most likely means that the device was forced into the ROM_MODE accidenlty by some operations.

Could you please follow the attached document? Please pay attention to step 4.

Hi Yihe,

It looks like the ROM was somehow erased please see the attachment for the results of the recovery operations you wanted me to perform. I think the device is bricked. Although I have more test / prototype boards I can use.

Thanks. Could you please clikc the DEVICE_ID link on the same interface to see whether device is stil under program mode? Please do this after a power cycle.

The device may be damaged instead of bricked. what's the votlage on the BPCap in?

Hi Yihe,

The voltage at BPCap IN is +1.765V. The equivalent on the working UCD I have is +1.774V.

Yes, BPCap looks ok. I would assume that V33A and V33D are also good. Do you remeber how this happen?

Yes, I was going between two different test boards since I only have one dongle. As you can see the layout team put a SIP5 header instead of the 2x5 Header made for dongle mating. I plugged the dongle to the UCD SIP5 while power was on and I must have plugged the test jumper wires to the wrong signals. Although, I would be surprised if that damaged the chip but it seems to be the case.

The SCL/SDA pin may be damage. Do you measure the resistance of two pins in comparison with normal IC?

Hi Yihe,

I don't measure any resistance between the SDA/SCL lines for the working or non-working UCD. I happen to think that the UCD's ROM is damaged beyond repair.
