TPS65320-Q1: TPS65320QPWPRQ1 unused LDO output

Part Number: TPS65320-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65320D-Q1

If I don't use the LDO output, can I leave the FB input open or pull it down?

  • Hi Tom,

If EN2 and VIN_LDO are connected to GND, I'd expect VFB2 could be left floating, but I am looping in the product expert to confirm.

    Best Regards,
    Rick S.
  • Tom,

Rick is correct, Pull EN2 to ground and leave VFB2 open. You can connect VIN_LDO to GND, but I recommend connecting VIN_LDO to the output of the BUCK.

The TPS65320D-Q1 (Make sure you design in with the D version of the IC) has an internal MUX that watches EN1 and VIN_LDO. If EN1 is low or VIN_LDO is low, the MUX will automatically switch the LDO input to VIN. VIN will typically be higher than the buck output. VIN can't be higher than 20V if the LDO is connected to VIN. If you connect VIN_LDO to GND then the MUX will automatically connect the LDO input to VIN.
