UCC28700EVM-068: Can UCC28700EVM-068 use for 12V to 5V/1A?

Part Number: UCC28700EVM-068
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28700, TPS54202

Hi team,

can I use UCC28700-EVM for 12V to 5V/1A ? I connect 12V DC after LC filter, but no output. Are there any thing need to be changed?

the EVM user guide not say any information about ULVO.

thank you!

  • Hello Betty,

The UCC28700 is designed for off line applications and has a VDD turnon of 21V and a turnoff of 8.1V for trickle charge startup. If you are goig to use this in an flyback applciation it will not work.

I searched TIs reference designs and found a 6V to 20V Vin to a 5V 1A output that is 94% efficent. You can find it at the following link if you are interested. This reference design uses the TPS54202 power controller IC.

  • Hi Mike,

    thanks for your reply.
We need isolated 5V/1A. TPS54202 is buck converter and can't used for flyback. do you have some recommendation about it?
    thank you.
  • Hello Betty,

Are you shore you need a buck converter? You could do an isolated forwarded converter. However, at this power level an isolated flyback makes more sense.
