WEBENCH® Tools/LM5022: Lm5022 Wont Create the Design for me! please help.

Part Number: LM5022
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5170-Q1, LM5170, LM5122

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Dear TI,

I have boost requirement of I/p range from 12-48VDC and O/p i need of 300V /4A. Now I'm trying to create the design using webench but it keeps giving me error "Oops! Something went wrong!". Please help me....Deeply awaiting your reply.

  • Hi Vijay,

Thank you for considering the LM5022 but I don't think the LM5022 is a right part for your 1.2kW design. The driver is not strong enough. For 1.2kW, you should consider multi-phase boost. For single phase, you may have to turn to a full-bridge converter instead of boost.

We do have a high power device the LM5170-Q1, and it can support your 1.2kW in four phases. Each LM5170 has two phases, so you need two LM5170 is 4 phase boost configuration. For our 300V output, you just use a rectifier diode and leave the LM5170 high side driver not used.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

Thank you for your quick reply... I dont understand what you mean by multi phase boost! Can you please provide me any schematic for your explanation please?("LM5170-Q1, and it can support your 1.2kW in four phase"). Deeply awaiting your reply.

  • Hi Vijay,
By multi phase I mean several "smaller" boost converters are combined in the fashion of paralleling, namely their input and output are tied together, such that the total power is shared, or split, among these smaller converters. Refer to the following 4 phase design as an example. Yes it is a LM5122 synch boost converter but for your 300V you don't need sync boost. Sync here means synchronous rectifier.

The LM5170 is a dual phase and it can implement 4 phases by combing two LM5170s.

  • Thank you very Much Sir. I will try.
