UCC2897A: Inquiry about selection of output inductor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP20878, UCC2897A

Hi Team.

The customer is asking for data to calculate the output inductor for UCC2897.

I can see the formula to get the output inductor from SLUA535(4.1.1 Output Inductor).

I recalculated it according to the specification of the customer as follows.

---------------------------------------------------

Condition -> Vin = 48V / Vout = 12V / Iout = 2A / Transformer Ratio = 7:4 (Pri : Sec)

Calculation result --> Lo = (12/ (0.15 * 2 * 225 * 10^3)) * (1 - 0.438 ) = 100uH

Is the result the minimum inductance value?

---------------------------------------------------

---- Additional question -------

To verify the output inductor value, we compared it with PMP20878.

The conditions of PMP20878 are as follows:

Vin = 40~57V / Vout = 24V / Iout = 3A / Transformer Ratio = 1:1 (Pri : Sec)

Calculation result --> Lo = (24 / (0.15 * 3 * 225 * 10^3)) * (1 - 0.421 ) = 137uH

The schematic of the PMP20878 has a 33uF output inductor.

For some reason, did you use an inductance lower than the calculated value?

Does not problem to use a lower value than the calculation result?

Is there something wrong with my calculations?

Thank you.
