BQ24610: About battery detection

Part Number: BQ24610

I am designing a circuit for charging a 3-cell Li battery,as datasheet mentioned:

In my circuit,VREG is 12.6v and  VLOWV is around 9V,output cap is 30uf,so we can conclude Trise=(12.6-9)*30/125=0.0864ms,Tfall=(12.6-9)*30/8=13.5ms

below is output waveform when battery is not connected,we can see that the fall time is 3ms and the rise time is 1ms,which deviates seriously from what we concluded above, please help solve the problem, thanks!

  • Hi,

For Trise, I calculate 0.864ms, which is close to measured. For Tfall, I calculate the same, 13.5ms. The 8mA sink current is only a typical value and could vary significantly (~+/-20%) but I would not expect that much variation. Do you have the capability to measure the 8mA sink current into SRN, perhaps through a series resistor form the battery to SRN? How will this negatively affect the operation of battery detection in your end application?
  • Hi there,
