Dear Sir,

I have been test BQ76930EVM with Battery management studio.

it connect SMBUS with EQ2400 and BQ78350-R1.

and I commanded shutdown mode 3 times to BQ78350-R1. but BQ78350-R1 don't wake up...it seems the BQ78350-R1 is died.

How can I wake the BQ78350-R1 up?

please advise anything.

  • Hi Dexter,

One thing you might try is to reprogram the device firmware to see if the device recovers. You can follow the steps in the Firmware Programming section of the EVM User Guide.

Also, if the gauge does not detect the expected cells (or cell simulator resistor divider), it will shut down the AFE and require a re-boot of the board.

    Best regards,
    Matt
  • Dear Matt,

    Thank you for your reply,

I can't reprogram the device firmware. it is not connecting via SMBUS. it seems to be die the BQ78350-R1.

I checked to waked BQ78350-R1 up at first and second times. but third time of shutdown command do not waked up.

I think it is not re-boot and re-program issue...

    please check shutdown command issue...
  • Hi Dexter,

I suspect the firmware could have been corrupted. Maybe there were SMBus writes to the data flash during the shutdown process which is a long process. If it is the firmware, you should be able to reprogram it. Firmware programming is still possible even if BQStudio is non auto-detecting the device. Once it is reprogrammed successfully, you need to restart BQStudio.

If this does not fix the issue, I do not know what else could cause the device not to be recognized (unless it was damaged). The shutdown command cannot damage the device.

    Best regards,
    Matt
