UCC28780: Competition is ONsemi

Part Number: UCC28780

Hello E2E,

Our customer choised the NCP1568 of ONsemi for next new design. We compared the performance of competing products with UCC 28780.
Competitor is very strong. I think TI will not beat the competitor. Does TI release even better products?

    Can you describe why you conclude that? What I am hearing is UCC28780 is very strong. So I would like to hear your reasons.

    Hello Hong,

    UCC28780 need both-side Gate-Drive and-external HV-startup circuit.
    Furthermore, pin placement is ideal.
    Please see datasheet of NCP1568 following,

    I'd like to drive out competitor from customer's board. However, NCP1568 has advantage more than UCC28780 for downsizing.

    Q:
    Does UCC28780 will get won to NCP1568?
    or
    Does TI has plan to release for new product?

    1. UCC28780 has already won customers.
    2. external HV-startup does not present an issue when we promote UCC28780 to customers.
    3. please clarify what you mean "both-side gate-drive"?
    4. please clarify what you mean "pin placement is ideal"?
    5. We know NCP1568.
    6. Are you a Tier or are you a TI customer? If you are a Tier, can you contact the product line for UCC28780? If you are a customer, can you contact your TI local sales? In either case, let's continue talking how to help design in UCC28780.
    7. UCC28780 has won customers.
    8. TI has always had plans to release new products.

    The TI-Japan sales team will request HVP members to visit Japan.
