WEBENCH® Tools/LM5122: Is this IC good for 3-44 VDC input to fixed 48 VDC?

Part Number: LM5122

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello,

The Webench tool does not allow such values, but the datasheet does:

Input: 3 to 44 VDC

Output: fixed 48 VDC @ 10 A

Do you confirm the LM5122 can handle this with suitable external components?

Thanks for your help.

Dorian.

  • Hi User,

    Two issues here:

    (1) The LM5122 requires 4.5V to startup. Webench makes it a requirement to start the design. The 3V in the datasheet means the LM5122 can support Vin=3V once it is started up. So, you should not use 3V as the input condition to create a design.
    (2) You output powre is almost 500W and you must use multi phase LM5122 which is not currently supported by the Webench. You may need to consider at least four phases and then combine the 4 phases into a multiphase converter like shown in www.ti.com/.../PMP7837.

    Thanks,
