BQ21040: IN-DPM feature

I want to make sure I understand the IN-DPM feature of this product. The charging source for my application can be any USB charger - from a 500 mA port to a higher current source.  Is it OK to set the charging current to the max (800 mA) and let the IN-DPM feature adjust the current for the particular charging source?
