LM5060Q1 input capacitor question

Hi,

I have some question on using LM5060Q1 for 12V automotive electronics applications.

1. What is the C3 and C4 purpose?

2. How to choice the C3 and C4 voltage rating in 12V automotive electronics applications?

Thanks.

  • Hi Mingwei,

    Welcome to E2E!

For which module, you are planning to use LM5060Q1 ?
The purpose of C3 and C4 is to limit input voltage slew rate during transients events.

  • Hi Rakesh,
We are under development on the AWR1XXX platform for Radar application.
And needed to research how to protect the vehicle's 12V battery input to pass ISO 7637- & ISO 16750 regulations.
Thanks for the answer to question 1.
How about the C3 and C4 voltage rating in 12V automotive electronics applications?
    Thanks.
  • Hi Mingwei,
    Thanks for the information.
Typically, 200V rated capacitors would be enough to support load dump test. In the design, we used 100V capacitors in series to achieve 200V overall.
