BQ40Z50: Scaleability

Part Number: BQ40Z50
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34110, BQ34Z100-G1, BQ76940, BQ78350-R1

My question is that the spec sheet states a limit of 29 Ahr. The application I am working on significantly exceeds this amount. It would seem that by changing the resistor and using scaling factors I should be able to work around this.  Is there any experience with this method and/or reasons to avoid it?  Is there a similar product with a higher capacity limit?

  • Hi Joe,

Current scaling is not available for this specific device. There are other gauges that support this feature and are commonly used in high current applications: BQ34Z100-G1, BQ34110, and BQ78350-R1 (companion gauge to the BQ76940/930/920 AFE).

    Best regards,
    Matt
