BQ40Z50: BQ40z50 muti-cell set question

Part Number: BQ40Z50

Hi there,

I noticed that in TRM of BQ40z50:

In a 1-series cell configuration, VC4 is shorted to VC, VC2 and VC1. In a 2-series cell configuration, VC4 is
shorted to VC3 and VC2. In a 3-series cell configuration, VC4 is shorted to VC3.

Please give comments about why we set configuration like this? Is there any logic thing ?

Thanks!

BR,Eason

  • Hi Eason,

I'm not sure I understand your question. The device is designed to support up to 4 series cells. When all 4 cells are not connected, these are the connections that are needed for these pins since there will be no cell voltage across these pins. You also need to set the number of cells in the data flash settings.

    Best regards,
    Matt
