TPS51216: VTT disable procedure question

Part Number: TPS51216

Hi expert,

My customer is asking for VTT disable procedure. They used TPS51216 in GPU FBVDDQ rail and want to change Vout between 1.35V and 1.5V. Tracking mode provides faster discharge period for VDDQ rail which could meet NV 1.5V to 1.35V transition time spec. But from below VTT disable procedure, it should be set at mode0 or mode1 which are both non-tracking mode. May I know if we can use tracking mode with VTT disabled? Thanks a lot!!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi Ann,

If TPS51216 VTT rail is used in customer's design, they can use tracking mode to turn off VDDQ.

The recommendation you posted is for the situation that VTT rail is not used in the design.

    Thanks

    Qian

  • Hi Qian,

They DON'T use VTT for this FBVDDQ so they want to disable VTT rail. They want to use tracking mode for faster VDDQ discharge time(according to below picture). Do we have misunderstanding on it? We want to know if we could use tracking mode when we disable VTT rail. Thanks a lot!!

    Best regards,

    Ann Lien

  • HI Ann,

The tracking discharge mode discharges VDDQ output through internal VTT regulator. This information is available on datasheet page 16.
If VTT is disabled, I don't think tracking mode can be used for discharge.

    Thanks
    Qian
