Hi,

I am looking for battery charger IC for charging single Li-ion battery. The charger should have OVP, OCP, OTP and reverse battery protection. The charging current should be able to set via external resistor and the max charging current will be 1.6A. The input will be from a adapter with Max 8V. The charger also should have temperature sense pin to protect the battery while charging.

The protection of reverse battery is important, if accidentally the battery is connected in reverse the charger should not get damaged. Please suggest suitable part. The cost of the charger cannot be more than $0.5 for 1K quantity.

    For the 1.6A charging current and 8V input voltage, I recommend switching charger with higher efficiency than a linear charger and thus can handle the power dissipation. The lowest cost standalone switching charger TI has is BQ25606. None of our chargers have reverse battery insert protection. You will have to add that externally with a FET similar to what is explained in the appnote www.ti.com/.../slva139.pdf.
