TL494: About setting maximum duty cycle of DTC

Part Number: TL494

Hello,

Regarding to dead-time control(DTC) on TL494, my customer is asking a question.

They will set maximum duty cycle of DTC with following schematic.

(Question)

According to datasheet, DTC characteristics is following.

This meaning is that:

linear control of duty cycle of DTC from its minimum of 0% to 45% as the input voltage(DTC) is varied from 3.3V to 0 V, respectively.

My understanding is correct? Is it possible to calculate its DTC duty cycle by calculation formula?

Or do you have a data(DTC duty cycle vs DTC input)?

Regards,

Tao 2199

  • Hello Tao2199,
The data sheet for the TL294 describes that the dead time varies linearly from 3% to 100% as the input voltage on DTC varies from 0 V to 3.3V.
In other words with DTC = 0 V you will get max duty cycle
With DTC = 3.3V you will get zero duty cycle.
    So you are correct.

    Regards
    John
