UCD90120A: Is there a way to add an ID (string/byte/word) to a UCD90120a configuration?

I'd like to be able to read a (string/byte/word) value from the UCD90120a via i2c/sm/pm bus to identify a device configuration.

The idea is to be able at run-time to correlate the configuration on the device to a configuration file.

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but I don't see a way to do this.

Yes ucd90120a support MFR command defined by the PMBUS spec.

Please refer section 22.2

You can also find these under fusion Gui. Hardware configuration->device is& information

Are you suggesting using some combination of the following commands?
(9A) MFR_MODEL
(9B) MFR_REVISION
(9C) MFR_LOCATION
(9D) MFR_DATE
(9E) MFR_SERIAL
Or what?

It seems like the commands
(B0-BF) USER_DATA_00 - USER_DATA_15
would be ideal, but according to the same table, they're not supported by the device.

Yes you can use one of those command to differentiate the configuration. Those commands are defined to fit your requirements.
USER_DATA commands are for different purposes and are not supported by ucd90120a
