here in figure 1 the input of dc-dc convertor is shown as 12v , But In seconf figure it is shown as Vstack. Can anyone please clarify??

Hi Jason,

For the EM1402EVM board, please use the circuit on your first diagram as reference which is the circuit shown in the EM1402EVM User's Guide (www.ti.com/.../snou143.pdf). The board has a connector where you connect the 12V supply (see page 9 on the user's guide). This connector is for you to provide the isolated supply that the EM1402EVM will balance cells to and from. You can also find the schematic for the board here: www.ti.com/.../tida-00817 (scroll down to "Schematic/Block diagram").

is the balancing between a cell and the stack or between a cell and external 12V Supply ??

In the EM1402EVM, the balancing is between a cell and an external 12V supply.
