BQ25606: What is the difference between VINDPM and MPPT??

Hi,

I've looking at the parts like BQ24650 to use it for a solar charger because it has a MPPT Maximum Power Point Tracking

But then there are parts like BQ25606 or BQ25895 which have a VINDPM Maximum power tracking.

What is the difference? And how do I use it? I would like to use a part BQ25606 because it has a power path but I was told that I need MPPT. Is VINDPM not enough?

BQ25606 and BQ25895 build in VINDPM. When solar power is overloaded and the output voltage will drop, as a result, the BQ25606 or BQ25895 charge current is reduced and input voltage is regulated at VINDPM. With VINDPM, the charger can take weak power from solar array. However, it may not be maximum power point since VINDPM is fixed. If VINDPM is adjusted based on additional MCU MPPT algorithm then MPPT is achievable.

Ok, so I understand that VINDPM will do the job and won't overload the dc-dc in front of the charger circuit but it wont be as efficient as MPPT? Do you know the efficiency difference?

2 stage compared with single stage, single stage should be more efficient. BQ24650 should be a better solution.
