TPS53353: How to evaluate the OVP function of TPS53353?

Hi expert,

My customer wants to know how to evaluate the OVP function of TPS53353. In the datasheet, it's said that if the feedback voltage becomes higher than 120% of the target voltage. The customer wants to test the OVP situation, but doesn't know the correct method. If changing the feedback network, the output voltage will also change, and OVP threshold changes as well. The question is how to check if the circuit will trigger protection when the output voltage reaches 120% target value.

The customer is urgent to know this question. Could you give me a reply today? Thanks a lot!

Our device compare the feedback voltage with the internal reference voltage to determine when the OVP threshold (20% above the internal reference voltage). Please see the attached power point. Even though it's not the same part but the function is similar.

My question is how to creat the OVP situation actively, not the operation process. Can you tell how make the output in to over voltage condition?? Thanks.

Hi Lenna,
You can forced OV condition on the FB node by using the function generator and pulse it through a diode for ~5us. The set voltage on the function generator is about 20% above the reference voltage (0.6V).
